Shape and Space

A lot of negativity in our lives doesn't come from external circumstances but from our limited views and expectations of an ideal life.

How would we feel the calmness of sweet milk
if we have never tasted the chaos of salty tears?

How will we handle a jolt from a carefree kiss
if vengeance has never slapped our cheek?

How do we smell the pride of helping that crying kid,
if we have never experienced the stink of being that dejected child?

How do we enjoy the sound of reciprocation of our thought,
If we have never appreciated the melancholy of our echo getting lost in eternal emptiness?

How will our actions shine like the orange boundary of a flame,
if we do not have the blue interiors of sorrow?

How will we feel the blessings in the wave of a hand combing our hair,
if we never dared to risk it all solo on a stormy night?

How will we discover that taste of simplicity in that bowl of rice,
if we never felt the tragedy of inescapable hunger?

How will we stumble upon the magnanimity of shifting waves in water
Unless the ground beneath our feet shifted upon the realization that we would never see her again after this moment?

How will we ever find peace in accepting that we were wrong,
If a pang of guilt never drove us to question the purpose of our existence?

How will we laugh at the mockery of breaking that critical rule,
Unless we have mindlessly followed a charlatan in God's cloak?

How will we encounter the serenity in touch and smell of first raindrops,
If we have never decided to keep going despite burns from a scorching sun?

How will we ever find the motivation to build a shrine,
If we have been given forgiveness in exchange for evil?

How will we achieve the charm to woo the eternal into a relationship,
If we are never disappointed by the hidden agendas 0f every temporal promise?

How will we ever find the courage to meet the angels with a smile after dying,
If the demons of death never haunted our living dreams?

How can we see somethingness,
if the nothingness in the background doesn't highlight it?
